Lurking or latent pathogens are typically viral infections that have not been properly resolved, or that were too strong for the body to expel, and have gone deeper into the body causing varied symptoms. The herbs and essential oils used in this bath help to push out pathogens that have lodged themselves in to the tissue and nerves of the body.
Chinese medicine has long recognized the disease pattern of latent pathogens. Generally the cause is stated as "External" pathogens that were not correctly treated initially and were allowed to travel from the exterior to the interior resulting in organ damage and pain. This is call "Gu Syndrome" in Chinese medical theory and must be addressed by expelling the pathogen before a patient can begin to improve.
